Women Empowerment in Farmington Hills MI

Hi everyone today I received the privilege of meeting and talking to Mayor Theresa Rich, the Mayor of Farmington Hills, and attending an inspiring event where she talked about women empowerment and the future of Farmington Hills. I was so inspired by her speech, she discussed the importance of women helping other women and lifting each other. Not too long ago society was a place where women often felt the need to put each other down rather than celebrating each other's successes. Instead of women supporting each other, they envied each other. While the world is changing Mayor Rich emphasized how important it is that we bring other women up and create a space where all of their voices are heard.   Earlier I got the amazing opportunity to spend 20 minutes discussing what being mayor is like and what plans are in store for the city with Mayor Rich. The city of Farmington Hills is progressing and starting to bring in new infrastructure to glamorize and bring life back to the city....

Healthcare Challenges Women face in Underdeveloped Countries

Welcome to my blog! I am a sophomore in high school, and I created this blog to spread awareness about the policy issues women and other marginalized groups face globally. I am interested in learning more and discussing this topic because of my prior experiences at multiple nonprofits and learning more about the injustice women face.  As previously stated, I have volunteered at many nonprofits and organizations, many of which help provide women in underdeveloped countries with proper resources and supplies: birth kits, financial aid, and funds for their education. While working with these various organizations, I found out that governments in these underdeveloped countries do not provide women and many other marginalized groups with these resources, resulting in economic injustice and harsh living conditions. This fueled my interest in learning more about the government policies associated with healthcare and education.  I later decided to write a blog exploring these challeng...

Nigeria's Economy and Policies

One of the first countries I want to discuss is Nigeria! In this post, I plan to provide information about Nigeria's economy, history, and gaps in policy, specifically in healthcare and education. Nigeria is located on the western coast of Africa, and it is primarily known for its abundance of natural resources and large deposits of petroleum and natural gas.  Nigeria is known to be hot and humid throughout the year, and there are certain areas in Nigeria that are more developed than the others. The Central region in Nigeria, the Middle Belt, was the least developed area and was sparsely populated: less than one-fifth of the total population lived there. However, this area has progressed and gained more attention from the population due to the fertile lands it possesses and the significant economic activity in tin mining. It is commonly referred to as the "food basket of the nation" because of its abundance in agriculture.  Although the Middle Belt has improved economical...
